Anxiety ~ The Most Common Problem of Our Time

Despite polls saying that anxiety is only present in 18% of the US population. What they’re referring to is a case of “severe” anxiety, panic attacks, and such.

Believe it or not, Anxiety is closer to 98… maybe 99%, maybe even 100% in everyone! It’s inescapable, it’s impossible not to have it.

Of course, that seems like a pretty big claim right there, so let me explain what i’m talking about.


Recently, I was at a festival when someone came up to me. He introduced himself, and told me that he had bought the Panic to Freedom program, and that he loved it!

What struck me as interesting was when he told me that he never really felt he had any anxiety or panic whatsoever… and yet when he watched PTF he began to realize that he did, and began using the formula to shift it.

It wasn’t long after that that he packed up his car and went on a spirit quest road-trip through the west coast of the US. (you are the inspiration for this article!)

I thought that was very interesting. Before that moment, I thought there was a clear distinction between people who had anxiety, and people who didn’t. It turns out that line is more of a  gradient between colors.

Part of the reason I felt that way, I believe, was because that’s how EVERYONE thinks about it. (It’s a collective belief!)

You see, unless you’ve actually been diagnosed with anxiety or just inherently know that you panic all the time, most people will deny having any anxiety whatsoever.

You might even be fighting me on this as you read the article, “what are you talking about, I don’t have anxiety!”. I know how it feels, but there’s no need for defensiveness here, and certainly no need to get anxious ;)

Please, roll with me on this one. I’m either completely insane, or right on the money. Read through the whole article, take it in, take some deep breaths, and decide how you feel in the end.

It’s likely that the reason behind this, is because people don’t want to think that they’re “broken”, because the media and doctors make you feel as if having anxiety means there is something wrong with you.

So it’s sort of a loop. If you say you’ve never been anxious, you’re lying. You afraid to be honest with yourself that you’re anxious because it means you’re broken (according to others). If you’re broken, then you might as well give up anyways. Then you’re stuck between a rock and a hard place.

From my experiences, it appears as though there’s a lack of understanding about what it is, and  an acceptance of having it, even mildly so.

Anxiety is defined as:

A feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.

From the extreme to the mild, i think we’ve all had an experience like this before. Whether it’s been in our relationships, in school, at work, with our kids, or friends, wouldn’t you agree?

Sometimes it comes in the form of “I want them to like me and i’m afraid that they don’t.”

I remember feeling really upset with myself when I believed I failed an exam after writing it… I was furious at myself for weeks, huge anxiety about it… When i got the exam back, i got 80%! I was rather pleased…

Then of course, I felt stupid again for being so upset at myself in the first place.

So, the moral of this story and article is that… it’s okay to admit that you get anxious, nervous, frustrated, stressed.

Regardless if you have really intense panic attacks and you’ve been going to doctors and psychologists for years, or if you just have frustrating and stressful days at work sometimes, maybe you hate doing homework! There’s nothing wrong with you.


Anxiousness is a natural, normal response to everything that’s going on on this planet. it’s impossible not to have it, a large majority of people are mean because they don’t know any other way to be, that in of itself would cause anyone anxiety, not to mention we’re destroying our planet on a larger and larger scale every day.

How could anyone look at the global catastrophe and not get at least a little upset about it? Personally, it makes Ray and I both incredibly upset, which is part of the reason we made Panic to Freedom in the first place.

See, whether you have big anxiety or little anxiety, the Four Principles Formula is a powerful tool for shifting that anxiousness. If everyone came from a space of clear-mindedness and awareness of the interconnectedness of everything, we could fix all of the worlds problems very quickly. It’s just about making connections with people who want to do something powerful, and doing it with them.

  1. I agree, anxiety is a common “problem” with an easy fix from a dose of equal parts Wellness, Consciousness and Spirituality. These “problems” the mass media and society have thrust upon us are totally pseudo, and all to do with the Mindset. To have a Mindset to grow yourself, spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally is to be in what I call “The Wellness Mindset” – to grow, nourish and thrive. Keep doing what you’re doing.

    I believe Wellness is a fantastic way to start people on their journeys – wake them up, so to speak. Many people are so plugged into the system that they need easing down the rabbit hole, bit by bit. Making them aware of their physical selves is a fantastic start.   3. You’re right, I do experience anxiety from time to time. Luckily I know how to deal; we Dutch people are pretty sober when it comes to having those kinds of feelings.
